well, I am really bummed that I wasn't able to contact anyone on HF. I heard a lot of stations from the east coast and even from Japan, but none from California. oh well, perhaps next time I'll have a better antenna to play with.

not only I think the antenna isn't radiating as well, but the locations where we camped were very obscure... mountains on the side, deep valley, etc.
